A mother who is able to give ASI exclusively (0-6 months) gives a sense of happiness for a mother. But not infrequently, this is constrained by the production of breast milk that has not come out in the first days of breastfeeding. This is what makes parents worry about not being able to meet the nutritional needs of their babies at the beginning of their lives, so they decide to give formula milk. This study is a literature review to determine the effect of katuk leaf extract, and the dosage given to the adequacy of breast milk in nursing mothers. Katuk leaves are known as ASI stimulant plants because they contain sterols (with phytosterol derivatives) and polyphenols which can increase the level of prolactin hormone to produce milk, stimulate the hormone oxytocin to stimulate the production and flow of breast milk, and have a lactagogum effect to increase the amount and quality of breast milk, because it contains substance that is fitosterol 446mg/100gram. These katuk leaves contain protein, fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamins A, B, and C, pyrolidinone, and methyl pyroglutamate and p-dodecylphenol, as minor/supporting components. Based on the Nutritional Adequacy Rate (AKG) for the Indonesian nation, mothers who are breastfeeding babies up to 6 months old need an additional energy sufficiency of 330 kcal and an additional energy sufficiency of 20g. The survey results of food consumption of individuals in Indonesia in 2014 showed that it turned out that many of the age groups of breastfeeding mothers with energy and protein consumption in the less category, namely as much as 50% with 70% energy consumption from AKG and as much as 33.8% with 80% protein consumption (wa) One effort that can be done to increase the rate of secretion and production of breast milk is through the use of the herb katuk leaf extract medicine.
