Abstract

Estimates of babies with Low Birth Weight (LBW) are estimated to be 15% of all births in the world with a limit of 3.3% and are more common in developing countries or low socioeconomic. This study is an analytic study with a cross sectional approach to determine the relationship of education, age and occupation with the knowledge of primigravida mothers about the method of kangaroo on LBW in RSIA Annisa Jambi City. The population was 883 primigravida pregnant women, 41 samples, the data collection technique was using accidental sampling. Data is done by filling out questionnaires for primigravida pregnant women. Univariate and bivariate data analysis. The results showed that of the 41 most respondents aged 20-35 years as many as 24 respondents (58.5%), the majority of respondents had an equivalent junior high school education of 24 respondents (58.5%) and the majority of respondents did not work as many as 23 respondents (56 , 1%). Primigravida mother's knowledge about kangaroo method treatment on LBW, found that as many as 4 respondents (9.8%) had good knowledge, as many as 23 respondents (56.1%) had enough knowledge and as many as 14 respondents (34.1%) had poor knowledge. The results of bivariate analysis using chi-square obtained p_value 0,000 (<0.5) meaning that there is a relationship between education, age, and occupation with the knowledge of primigravida mothers about the treatment of kangaroo methods on LBW in RSIA Annisa, Jambi City.
