Abstract

Sleep for babies is a top priority, because during sleep, neuro-brain repair will occur and approximately 75% of growth hormone is produced. In Indonesia, quite a lot of babies experience sleep problems, namely around 44.2% of babies experience sleep disturbances such as frequent awakenings at night. Inadequate sleep and poor sleep quality can result in physiological and psychological balance disorders. Baby Massage is one of the efforts to increase sleep duration in babies. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of baby massage on sleep quality in infants aged 3-6 months at PMB Ny. “W” Madureso Village, Dawarblandong District, Mojokerto Regency.

The design of this study used a Quasi Experiment with a one group pre test post test design approach. The population is all babies aged 3-6 months at PMB Ny. “W” Madureso Village, Dawarblandong District, Mojokerto Regency with a total of 37 babies. The research sample was 31 babies aged 3-6 months, taken by Simple Random Sampling. The independent variable is baby massage and the dependent variable is the quality of baby sleep. The research instrument used SOP and a questionnaire. statistical test using wilcoxon.

The results showed that the sleep quality of infants aged 3-6 months before the baby massage was carried out by most of the respondents was sufficient, namely 18 respondents (58.0%) and after the baby massage was almost entirely good, namely 26 respondents (83.9%) and statistical tests Wilcoxon obtained a significant value p value = 0.000 < a (0.05) then H1 is accepted so it can be concluded that there is an effect of baby massage on the sleep quality of babies aged 3-6 months at PMB Ny. “W” Madureso Village, Dawarblandong District, Mojokerto Regency.
